1st Annual Chamber Young Professionals Scholarship Competition

The Rock Valley Chamber is excited to announce their 1st Annual Young Professionals Scholarship Competition! The purpose of the scholarship is to provide funds to deserving area youth that have need of financial assistance in pursuing post-high school education, are an active young leader in the Rock Valley community, and show an eagerness and passion in becoming a Professional
Leader in the future.
The scholarship award will be for $1000. Those interested in applying must complete the application along with your essay to the Rock Valley Chamber at the City Office no later than July 1st, 2023 at 5:00pm. The essay should be 400 words or less, and on the topic "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. - Nelson Mandela. As a future leader in our community, what change would you make in Rock Valley?"
The Rock Valley Chamber will select three applicants to compete in the next round of the competition. The Young Professionals Competition will take place during Rally in the Valley on Wednesday, August 9th.
Applicants will participate in a mock interview, professional dinner provided by the Chamber, and finally, a public speaking round. The public speaking round will consist of answering one question on stage during the Little Miss Rock Valley Pageant. The winner of the scholarship will be announced that night, and is encouraged to ride in the Rally in the Valley Parade on Saturday, August 12th at 11:00am.
We are excited to offer this program to the young leaders in our community. It is part of the Chamber’s mission to encourage our youth to follow their dreams and potentially become professional leaders in the future here in Rock Valley!

The Chamber Board has been hard at work this year trying to establish events and programs that will help develop leadership within our community. We believe that this program, along with the brand-new Leadership Program being launched in September of this year, aligns with these goals perfectly! This program is such a great opportunity for the young future leaders in our community. We encourage those looking to further their education to apply!
